Who Is Transitional Housing For?

Jun 05, 2025

You’re going through a big change in life — perhaps you’re getting out of an abusive relationship or you’re re-entering society after being incarcerated — and, to land on your feet, you need a roof over your head.

These situations, and many more, are exactly what the transitional housing provided by Harmony Homes for Healing is designed to address. Below, we dive into a few examples in which our transitional housing can help you bridge the gap to a better life.

Leaving violence behind

Family and domestic violence affects about 10 million Americans each year — as many as one in four women are victims of domestic abuse, alongside one in nine men.

If you need to get out of a home because of domestic violence, transitional housing is a perfect solution. The domestic violence safe homes we provide are designed to help people finally feel safe and secure in their environment without the threat of violence.

We welcome mothers and their children, older teens who are victims of violence, men who feel threatened at home, and any other situation in which the home front is unsafe.

Housing for the unhoused

Another great use for transitional housing is to get people out of homelessness, which is a growing problem in the United States. On one night in January 2023, more than 650,000 people were unhoused.

If you’re struggling to find shelter and you want to find your way back to getting a roof over your head, transitional housing is here to help.

Serving veterans

Our veterans have served us, and now it’s time for us to serve them if they’re struggling with civilian life and homelessness. Through our transitional housing, we can help veterans reintegrate into the world.

A road to recovery

Transitional housing is also a great path forward for people who are getting clean from a substance use disorder. We offer sober living environments that can help you stay on the road to recovery.

Getting on the right road after prison

The return-to-prison rate in the US is alarming — a study across 24 states found that about two-thirds of people who served time get re-arrested within three years.

The hurdles for people who are released from prison are considerable, and transitional housing can help with at least one of them — finding a stable place to stay while you plot your life moving forward.
