Sober Living in Northern California: How We Can Help

Jul 10, 2025

The effort you made to get clean and sober was huge, and you desperately want it to stick, to get to a newer and freer way of living. So, understandably, you’re nervous about re-entering the world, which is full of those people, places, and things that might trigger you.

More than 40 million Americans had a substance use disorder in 2020, and that number has likely moved much since then. We bring this number up because we first want to applaud your newly found sobriety — only a fraction of the millions of people who have a substance use disorder get sober.

Now we want to help you protect that sobriety as you transition back into the world with sober living housing. At Harmony Homes for Healing, we specialize in transitional housing for at-risk groups, and our goal is to provide safe spaces for you to get on your feet so that you can move forward.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some key benefits of sober living environments.

Surrounding yourself with support

One of the primary benefits of sober living environments is that you’re surrounded by fellow addicts and alcoholics who have also taken their first steps toward a better way of living.

This is a group of people who understand your challenges and worries and provide support. This group will also celebrate your wins, recognizing the challenges you had to overcome to achieve them. Not to mention, being among a group of people who share your journey can be a powerful motivator.

On top of living among a group of newly sober people, we also recommend (and sometimes require) that clients attend 12-step support groups. These groups will broaden your foundation of support considerably and provide you with the tools you need to stay clean.

Accountability in sober living

At the same time as you immerse yourself in a group of people who are in the same position as you, we provide the guardrails.

Our sober living environments require that all premises are drug- and alcohol-free, and clients need to undergo regular drug testing.

There may also be curfews and other house rules that you need to follow, but know that these are all in place to help you maintain your sobriety.

A network of transitional services

Harmony Homes for Healing is connected to an extensive network of support services, ranging from housing assistance to career support. So, when you’re in one of our sober living homes, you have access to this vast network, too.

This type of transitional support can be critical as you look ahead to the rest of your life.

Ultimately, our sober living environments are designed to create a strong foundation beneath your sobriety so that you can get back to your life with confidence and strength.
