How We Provide Security, Stability, and Support for Mothers with Babies

Dec 11, 2025

When you’re a mother, there are few things worse than feeling insecure, unsafe, and unstable in your home environment. After all, your children are your priority, and you want to be a provider and protector, but life hasn’t dealt you a great hand, and you have an abusive partner.

There are many Americans in your position — domestic violence touches the lives of 1 in 4 women in the United States, and 15 million kids live in homes where there’s domestic abuse.

And these are the very numbers that drive the existence of Harmony Homes for Healing, which provides stable, safe, and transitional housing to people in need in Solano, Yolo, Sonoma, and Napa Counties.

So, if you’re a mom with young children, read on to explore how we can help you navigate your way out of instability and danger and into a much safer environment that’s designed for moms and babies.

A word about domestic abuse

When we talk about domestic abuse, it doesn’t always come in a violent package. A partner can be abusive and controlling in several different ways that don’t include violence, such as:

  • Emotionally
  • Sexually
  • Financially
  • Psychologically
  • Technologically

If your partner is trying to control you using any of these and you don’t feel safe or secure in your own home, these are all forms of domestic abuse.

Finding a safe space again

As we just discussed, living in a home where there’s domestic abuse can feel like a prison with no way to escape, especially if there’s financial control. And that’s where we come in.

Harmony Homes for Healing’s sole mission is to provide housing for those in need, which very much includes women with young children who are in unsafe situations.

To start, we offer domestic safe houses — these are places where you can quickly remove yourself and your child(ren) from a toxic situation and land safely.

Our homes are equipped with everything you and your kids need to take a moment and catch your breath. Our safe homes not only provide you with a roof over your head, but we also take care of the essentials — utilities, cable, household supplies, food, and furniture — so that you have fewer things to worry about and you can concentrate on yourself and your kids.

While we first make sure that your basic needs are met in our housing, we don’t stop there and provide other resources for families in need, such as:

  • Counseling
  • Community and support groups
  • Limited transportation
  • Mental healthcare

We also offer case management support, which is an excellent resource for figuring out your next steps, such as work, schooling, and more permanent housing.

So, if you feel like you’re stuck and there’s no way out, we assure you that there is, and your first step is to contact us to speak with one of our housing specialists. Our services cover most of Northern California, including Solano, Yolo, Sonoma, and Napa Counties.
