A Fresh Start This Spring: How Transitional Housing Can Help You Rebuild

Mar 11, 2026

It can happen in an instant or over time, but somehow your life got derailed, and you want to get back on track. Whether you’re getting out of an abusive relationship, recovering from addiction, trying to re-enter society after serving in the military, or anything else that has temporarily set you back, housing insecurity can be a very real concern.

At the heart of what we do at Harmony Homes for Healing is to bridge the gap for at-risk populations in Northern California with transitional housing services. From sober living environments to domestic violence safe homes, here’s a look at how we can help you move forward.

Types of transitional housing that we offer

The transitional housing services at Harmony Homes for Healing are for anyone whose life has run into some challenges, and they’re at risk for becoming (or already are) unhoused, as a result. Some examples include:

Domestic violence

Nearly 30% of women and 10% of men in the United States have been victims of domestic violence. Unfortunately, getting out of these situations can be tricky, and many people don’t have the resources or finances to get to safety.

Our domestic violence safe houses are designed for these situations, and we take parents and kids so that families can find a safe space to regroup and figure out the next steps.

Homelessness

The state of homelessness in the US is at an all-time high, leaving far too many people without a proper roof over their heads. Through our transitional housing services, we can get people who are unhoused under a roof and help them to find more stable housing situations.

Veterans with housing insecurity

Many of our country’s veterans end up struggling when they return home, so we provide safe and comfortable housing during their transition from military to civilian life.

Recovering from addiction

Nearly 50 million people in the United States battled a substance use disorder in 2024. Addiction can certainly upend your life, but our sober living houses are here to help you pick up the pieces to become whole again.

Re-entering society after prison

At any given time, about 2 million people are incarcerated in the United States. Upon release, many former prisoners find it extremely difficult to re-enter society, which is where our transitional housing can help. At Harmony Homes for Healing, we offer a Re-entry Housing Program, which provides clean, sober, and trauma-informed living spaces.

Short-term post-hospitalization housing

If you’ve been hospitalized or received medical care and have nowhere to go upon release, we’re here to help with short-term post-hospitalization housing.

These are the more common reasons people seek our transitional housing services, but there are other situations as well. The bottom line is that if you are experiencing any insecurity about your housing, we’re here to help. Not only do we provide housing services, but we can also help with utilities, food, transportation, and case management.

If you’re unsure about your housing situation and need help, we invite you to contact us to speak with one of our housing specialists. Our services cover most of Northern California, including Solano, Yolo, Sonoma, and Napa Counties.
